Review #2 Fantasy Maker Book 1 Sabrina Kyle

Fantasy Maker Book 1 Sabrina Kyle

Thoroughly enjoyed this short erotic story! Number one of a series, it is completely captivating, entertaining & erotic! Sabrina Kyle’s writing style is superb, with beautifully descriptive scenes which are woven seamlessly together with sensuality and sexuality. Highly recommend this read, & this author! A easy full 5 stars!

Burning Up

Success this morning. After bundling the kids off to school, I sat down and wrote for a steady hour and a half. Halfway finished on the erotic novelette!
I find I can relate better to the characters if I think in terms of first person POV. When I finish writing for a time being, I then edit what I wrote, into third person POV. A bit more work, but for now it’s working for me.
With this novelette, I’m writing it purposely in third person, and some scenes in first person. I think it will read well like this, especially for the longer jaunts into the characters minds.
I’m also thinking at this point of the story, it’s more of a erotic romance then straight up erotica. Possibly edging on drama too. Hrmm.

I am ecstatic over how it’s shaping up!

Procrastination Among Other Things

The end of the month is drawing near, and so is my self imposed deadline on the newly renamed ‘Carnal Deeds’ Erotic Novelette. I’ve done a bit of churning here and there, but to be honest, haven’t done that much. My excuse? I’m distracted by financial issues, my husbands potentially life threatening disease, and the new business venture. Crap load of distraction right there in that shovel.
Must.Get.Writing.
I feel the pull in my fingers, and the slight buzzy noise that precedes writing frenzy, but too much on my mind is creating a writers block of sorts. Starting tomorrow, 1 hour a day must be spent writing, no matter what the future holds.

Review #1 Photographs by Merel De Ver

I popped on Smashwords the other day, and randomly chose a few new release books to review. The following, Photographs by Merel De Ver was the lucky first one chosen.

Photographs by Merel De Ver
Photographs is a short story about ‘A short piece exploring the life of a person through the mundane magic of photographs.’ As told by the author. I was deeply interested in how visual the story could be without actual photographs, and it was quite good. The short piece captured my imagination, & I was able to easily picture what life the photographs held. Merel’s writing style in this short is quite reminiscent of Margret Atwoods brilliant The Blind Assassin, which I loved. Personally, I would love to see Merel write a novel based on the life of these wonderful ‘Photographs’.
An easy 3.5 stars for this piece!

Busy Busy Bee

A week has passed since my last blog entry. Many apologies! A busy week to be sure, some not-so-great news in my personal life that I’d rather just forget; and a new business concept – hurrah!

I’ve only lightly picked at my stories this past week, let them breathe for a bit, then attacked them with my editing brush. I think I’m ready to move along, & spin out a few thousand more words on each. I’m exorbitantly happy with the way The Darkness Awaits is turning out – it’s got me gripping my seat wishing to just have it finished already so I can revel in the characters story. πŸ™‚

I’ve also decided to start reviewing other indie authors e-books, you can find the page listed under my Menu button – labelled “Reviews”. Please don’t hesitate to send your story to be reviewed, I’m quite relishing the thoughts of making another authors week!

Also! In celebration of the great VDay, my self published Erotic Short Story is FREE again! Please download, and enjoy it! The Dirty Witness – DOWNLOAD! Free!

Deadlines

I found myself thinking while in the shower last night – I do quite a lot of thinking at that time turns out – and I was analyzing why I tend to multi task, & why I place a due date on things I am doing/writing etc.
I find giving myself a completion date on anything I am working on, is a good kick in my a$$ to get it done. Otherwise, Id slog about, and it would take forever. No different, really, then journalists having a deadline, or a publisher giving an author a deadline.
That is why I’ve given myself the following deadlines to have my In Progess novels done by.

3,734words
Darkness Awaits Late Summer 2014
This gives me plenty of time to get the first draft scribbled out – to get my a$$ in gear! Aiming for 50,000 words, give or take a few. I’ve got a healthy start on the novel, working on putting the bibliography together, and plotting out the story & fleshing those characters out. That is a hell of a lot of writing just in itself, but makes the complete story come together so much easier, I find.

459wordsThe Porn Sight March 2014
I’m aiming for 8 – 10,000 words for this Erotic Short, and I think March to be an entirely do-able length of time. Since the story is loosely based on some experiences of my husbands, while on the job, I really don’t have to poke at the story much to have it come to life. I’ve lightly started it, & have the basic plot outline finished.

3,513wordsDynasty Novel I haven’t a proper title yet, as you’ve been noticing. I really must get over the loss of most of this story, & just chalk it up to the chance at a re-write. I do still have the hefty character profiles, the three book outlines, & the first few chapters.. I’ve lightly given myself til Fall 2015 for having the first book re-written. Summers are a very busy time on our farm, & I don’t expect to get much done in the way of writing during the warm months.
When I had the first draft of book one almost finished, I had decided to go the route of three separate books. Now I wonder, depending on where this write takes me, if a three in one isn’t a better idea. We’ll just go along with the write and see where we end up.

128wordsDummies 4 Arabian Horses Must come up with proper title, & not steal ‘For Dummies’. Still gathering up all my years of data on the Arabian breed, and also spent a hour or so yesterday plotting out chapters, sub chapters. Deadline? Honestly no idea. :p

Was Your English Lit Teacher Wrong About Symbolism?

101 Books

You always wondered if your college lit professor was just making crap up.

Turns out, maybe they were.

This article from The Paris Review offers a revealing take by many famous authors on how much symbolism played a part in their work.

Their comments were prompted by a letter from a 16-year-old Bruce McCallister in 1963. He was tired of the constant find-the-symbolism game in English class, so he took it upon himself to ask them what the big deal was with symbolism.

He mailed a simple four-question survey to more than 150 novelists. About half of them responded.Β The responses were varied, but most of the authors seemed to think symbolism is overanalyzed. Their comments were awesome:

The survey included the following questions:

Multi-Tasking

Over 200 of ‘The Dirty Witness’ downloaded! Hope everyone I enjoying my erotic short, I’ve received two lovely reviews/comments on my ‘About Bobbi’ page already! Thank you guys!
I discontinued my promotion of the story when I hit 200 downloads, but only put the price to .99 US – a decent price for a quick bedtime high I think. I do plan on running another Free promo on ‘The Dirty Witness’ for the big V day – so stay tunes for your chance to experience it for free again!

I’ve been slowly plugging at a couple things, in between daily life – my Dark Fantasy Romance reminiscent of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole, & Kinley McGregor – it features the love story of two Greek Deities!
Also scratching out another Erotic Short, based loosely on one of my hubby’s experiences on the road – going to try to round this one out a bit more, a bit of back story, & just generally fleshing it out.

Also, pulling together all of my data I’ve collected over the years, to put together almost a ‘Book for Dummies’ on my favourite horse breed – The Arabian. This has been simmering in my head for years, & since I tend to do my best when multi-tasking, I plan to start putting it together in between breathers from my other written projects.

1,558 on Dynasty Novel (This still breaks my heart, with only three chapters to go til Book One was finished, and I lost almost all of it. :/

I’ve Got This!

With the horrific loss of 10 chapters of my ‘Dynasty’ novel, I’m left with only the Prologue and first 2. Upgraded my writing app to Daedalus, that offers syncing with Icloud – and also exports as various file extensions such as ePub , which is needed for easily formatting IBooks for e- readers. (Note: Smashwords does not accept ePub files made from Daedalus! That is the end result from fighting all weekend with it.) 😦

I’m too dumbfounded at the moment to continue working on the Dynasty novel – with only a few chapters left til the end of book one, I just can’t bring myself to start over quite yet.

So, in the meantime, I’m expounding my creative energies into a new direction – a Dark Fantasy Romance. I’m quite taken with my new characters already, and the ‘love’ story they have to tell – I’ve entitled it, “The Darkness Awaits”.

I’m also completely finished with my Erotic Short, “The Dirty Witness”, and planning to upload it as a free e-book through SmashWords, hopefully by the end of this weekend. I’ve used one of my photographs from my play into Boudoir and Glamour Photography as the cover, I think it looks quite grand!
I’ll be sure and share the link to my erotic short once it’s live as a e-book.

UPDATE: HereThe Dirty Witness is now available for free! All good things come to an end, and when we’ve hit 200 downloads for The Dirty Witness the FREE promo will end.

1,750 words on The Darkness Awaits! I write quite slow, editing, re-reading as I go.. It’s my process. πŸ™‚

Drain Gamed

Today I find myself a bit drained.
After furiously writing in between daily life the past two days, I’m at 3,200 words on my assigned short of 6,000. She has flowed brilliantly if I do say so myself, but now I’m utterly brain fried.

Not too fried though, I’ve had 2 more plots jump into my head erratically – one a fantasy romance, the other a Suess inspired sci-fi. I followed my muse obediently, & scribbled them down for later work; now I think it’s time to just let my mind ease a bit, & play a few word games. Gentle stimulation for a weary mind!

Re-Cap Time!

The “Great” Dynasty Novel
– 13 Chapters so far, not including Prologue.

6,000 Word Short Assignment
– 3,281 words

Perhaps a nap is in order, after the word game. Yes, I think that is totally in order!

Later, that same evening
I returned to my short, armed with polishing materials. I started the re-read, changing the ‘and’ symbols to flat out ‘and’, or leaving them
out completely; and polished the punctuation marks. I re-read. Changed any seriously smutty wording to a slightly more acceptable titillation.
It’s finished. Finished at just over 3,200 words. It’s naturally progress to the point where I feel adding to it, or changing the flow, would be terrible detrimental to the story line. So, I’ll pack it away, at this point, and go merrily off to try again at 6,000 words, on a fantasy romance that my muse has hinted at. Ill pull the erotic short out later, & peer at it with more objective eyes.
Til then, it’s fantasy romance time! (And of course, plugging away at the great Dynasty Novel).
